1 - If I'm not in the building or
decorating trade, may I order from The Golden Lion? Unfortunately,
no. We are a wholesale business catering to the trade only--for example,
furniture manufacturers, antique stores, contractors, interior designers
and architects. If you are not in the trade, please call us and we will
refer you to a distributor in your area.
2 - Do you sell
outside of the United States? No. We apologize, but
at this time we are restricting our sales to the U.S.
market.
3 - I see that the prices are listed as retail.
How do I access my trade prices? Trade prices are not available online. If the customer is in the trade, he should go to the CATALOG ORDER page in order to download the resale card and set a trade account with The Golden Lion. Orders online are still available. Trade Discount will be applied on the final invoice.

- How do I place my
first order with The Golden Lion?
Welcome! First, please
register your company in order to receive your trade discount prices.
Please allow for at least a 24-hour turnaround for registration. If you
have a rush order, please contact us directly. For all first orders there
is a $300 minimum, with no minimum for future orders. Compose your order
using the order form. Review carefully and submit! You will receive an
e-mail confirmation that your order has been received. If you don't
receive a confirmation, please let us know.

Will I be charged sales
tax? All customers from the state of California will be
charged sales tax automatically unless we receive your resale number
certificate via fax at (310) 398-0605 at the time of ordering. For your
convenience you may print a resale form from our site. Customers
outside of California will not be charged sales tax.
6 - Shipping & Handling Rates and Policies
- Our usual
method of shipping is FEDEX Ground, however, any other shipping methods are available upon request.
- change to "Fedex, UPS and COD shipping will be charged accordingly to order size and weight. Let us know if you wish us to use your Fedex or UPS account number.
7 - May I return
a product if I don't like it? Only products from
the "furniture hardware" and "residential hardware" sections may be
returned, under the terms of the following Return Policy. All products
from the other sections are considered special order items and cannot be
returned. Because of the technical aspects involved in ordering and
installing residential and furniture hardware, we ask that you consider
carefully before ordering and feel free to call toll free at (877)
398-2848 or e-mail info@thegoldenlion.com for specific questions. Please take
your time and avoid costly mistakes.
8 - RETURN POLICY You may return an
eligible item in its original unused condition within 30 days from the
shipping date. However when the product or The Golden Lion is not at
fault, a 25% restocking fee, plus all shipping charges, will reduce your
credit. Loss or damage of goods must be reported to The Golden Lion within
10 days, and no goods may be returned for credit unless our prior consent
is given.
9 - Is the
finish I see on my screen the real color of the
product? We have made
great efforts to display the true colors of our products on the site, as
we realize the importance of finish when planning your project. However,
the colors that you actually see will depend somewhat on the calibration
of your monitor. We cannot guarantee that the display on your monitor will
be accurate. Please note, too, that many of our products are handmade
and hand-finished and as such there may be variables in color and finish.
It is preferable to order all items for a project at the same time to
receive a matching distress and finish.
10 - Do you have
all the products in stock? We do carry many
items but it may happen that we will not have all of your order in stock.
The delivery delay will usually not exceed six weeks for most items and is
often much shorter. We will bill only for the items that are shipped, and
the remainder will be placed on backorder. Backordered items may be
subject to additional shipping charges if sent in a separate shipment. If
an item is not in stock we will contact you in order to discuss a delivery
schedule or suggest an alternate item. If an unexpected delay occurs we
will alert you. Plan in advance when
possible and please remember that our products are shipping from Europe
and are often handmade--factors that can affect availability. Please note
that products may be discontinued at any time through no fault of The
Golden Lion.
11 - Are
the products as nice as they look on screen? Yes, they are. We
are very proud of the quality of our products, all from European
manufacturers employing timeless traditions with modern efficiency.
12 - Do your products
remain the same color forever? Not always.
Uncoated products oxidize with time, gaining a patina. Many people will
enjoy the mark of time, but others will not. Please make sure to choose
the right finish for your needs in order to avoid costly returns. We do
offer coating on our polished steel items when requested.
13 - Is your
rusted and waxed finish maintenance free? We wish it was, but
like all pretty things, it deserves love and care. A soft buffing with a
cotton rag will revive the natural shine of the wax for many weeks. Wax
offers a good lasting protection but will need to be renewed in a high
humidity environment. Select a good quality furniture wax to recoat your
hardware when necessary. We import an excellent French wax made of bee's
wax and carnauba. It offers strong protection to wood and hardware, giving
a great shine and nourishing wood on fine antique furniture. Please

14 - Can I use your levers with my
existing door lock? With one
condition: The spindle (the small rod connecting the two levers or knobs
on each side of the door) must have a square profile. The great majority
of U.S. locks are on a diamond profile but a few new ones are on the
European square standard. Check with your favorite lock manufacturer for
this necessary option. You will also find a selection of quality European
locks in our "lock section," along with their
specifications.Many new american locks now come with a diamond and square profile allowing European spindles to fit perfectly
15 - Can you drill back plates to my specifications if I buy locks
somewhere else? Of course we can.
It's a service we provide with all our back plates. For a fee we can have
our back plates machined to your own locks, but we do need to receive via
fax the lock(s) specifications. Please plan for a one-week
turnaround.
16 - May we ship to
multiple addresses?
"yes". If the billing and shipping addresses are different, we can ship to the "job site" address. However, the invoice will only be sent to the billing address.
17 - Which mail
carrier do you use?
We use FEDEX ground as
a standard of shipping unless otherwise specified on your order form. The
shipping rates listed on this site are based on UPS ground travel.
18 - Are all
parcels insured? Absolutely. We insure every parcel to the
full value of the products enclosed.
